> ## Agent Instructions
> Agent home for Datum, with what it is, pricing, and how to act: https://agents.datum.net
> If you can only fetch URLs: read https://www.datum.net/docs/llms.txt in full and open the most specific page for the task. Commands, limits, and field paths are on task, operations, and limits pages, not on section overviews. Pages described as "Documentation is coming soon" are placeholders.
> If you have a shell or can save files: download https://www.datum.net/docs/llms-full.txt (every page, about 740 KB) once and search it with grep, instead of fetching pages one at a time.
> datumctl describes itself: `datumctl api-resources` lists resource types and `datumctl explain <resource>` shows a schema. To act on live resources, use Datum MCP or datumctl. To search the docs, use the Docs MCP server at https://www.datum.net/docs/mcp.

# Overview

> Self-contained instructions that teach AI agents how to perform Datum Cloud tasks.

Skills are folders containing a `SKILL.md` file with metadata and step-by-step instructions. Agents discover and load them on demand — no scaffolding, no config files. Datum's official skills cover the most common operations across the [Application Load Balancer](https://datum.net/docs/alb/overview.md), [gVPC](https://datum.net/docs/galactic-vpc/overview.md) networks, [authoritative DNS](https://datum.net/docs/domain-dns/dns.md), [domains](https://datum.net/docs/domain-dns/domains.md), and [metrics export](https://datum.net/docs/operations/metrics-export.md), with more on the way.

These skills work with any agent that supports Skills, including Claude, Codex, Cursor, Pi, OpenCode, and Mistral Vibe.

## Install

Datum's skills live at **[github.com/datum-cloud/skills](https://github.com/datum-cloud/skills)**. Install for your agent of choice:

```bash Claude Code theme={null}
claude plugin marketplace add datum-cloud/claude-code-plugins && for p in datum-cloud datum-networking datum-dns datum-compute milo-observe; do claude plugin install "$p@datum-claude-code-plugins" || break; done
```

```bash npx skills theme={null}
npx skills add https://github.com/datum-cloud/skills
```

```bash Cursor theme={null}
# Settings → Rules → Add Rule → Remote Rule (GitHub)
# Repository: datum-cloud/skills
```

In Claude Code, the `datum-cloud` plugin also starts [Datum MCP](https://datum.net/docs/agents/datum-mcp.md) and the [Datum Docs MCP](https://datum.net/docs/agents/datum-mcp.md#datum-docs-mcp) server for you, and adds skills to sign in and pick a project, set up a [service account](https://datum.net/docs/projects/service-accounts.md) for CI, and hand a question to [Patch](https://datum.net/docs/datumctl/ai/assistant.md). Install the `datum-mcp` binary first; see [Install](https://datum.net/docs/agents/datum-mcp.md#install). The command also installs the plugins for each Datum product, and is safe to run again. To pick plugins yourself, browse the marketplace with `/plugin` inside Claude Code.

## How skills work alongside Datum MCP and datumctl

Skills tell the agent *how* to think about a Datum resource — the canonical patterns, the right flags, the order of operations. [Datum MCP](https://datum.net/docs/agents/datum-mcp.md) and `datumctl` are *how* the agent acts. A skill might instruct "always preview HTTPProxy changes with `--dry-run` before applying" — the agent then uses `datumctl` to actually run the command. For open-ended diagnostic questions, an agent can also hand off to [Patch](https://datum.net/docs/datumctl/ai/assistant.md), Datum's own assistant. See [Agents Overview](https://datum.net/docs/agents/overview.md) for the full picture.
