Finance keeps Datum running cleanly so the rest of the company can move fast: payroll, contracts, vendors, governance, and the reporting that decisions and fundraising rest on.
At our size, it is a super small team that touches everything. Most of the work is operational rather than strategic, but the operational quality is what makes strategic decisions possible — clean books, accurate forecasts, and tight contracts that build up to fundraising and other big moves.
How we work
Quietly competent. Most of the time you should not have to think about Finance. Invoices get paid, payroll runs, and contracts get signed. That said, if you need help with a contract, a vendor, or an expense question, we’re here.
Systems thinking. Deel is the system of record for employment and PTO. Carta handles the cap table and stock options. QuickBooks is our accounting system of record for financial reporting. We avoid spreadsheet sprawl where we can.
Numbers serve decisions. The budgets and reporting Finance produces exist so the Leadership Team can make better choices — not to perform compliance.
