Datum is an edge cloud where you can run containers close to your users, publish them behind a load balancer with HTTPS, connect your existing services through secure tunnels, and host DNS for your domains.
  • We are 100% focused on builders and modern, “alt cloud” service providers.
  • Our code is open source (AGPLv3), so you can run it anywhere if needed.
  • We prioritize agent-first and developer experiences.
Datum is still being built. The product is evolving quickly, documentation is growing with it, and today we offer a free tier. To see where each product stands, check the Roadmap.

Why Datum

Our platform provides internet-scale primitives — intelligent edge proxies, scaleable compute, private backbones, cloud onramps, peering, meet-me rooms — with an experience that is 100% programmatic, agent-first, and backed by AGPLv3 open source. We believe an edge cloud in the AI era is different from a traditional CDN, mainly because the use case is intelligence, not caching. We also think that open — open source and open ecosystems — is a critical requirement in a world that is increasingly fragmented and regulated. We serve builders and modern service providers, which we lovingly call Alt Clouds. We aim to support thousands of them, so neutrality and transparency are important in everything we do. We started Datum because we saw three big trends:
  1. Intelligence and data everywhere
  2. Thousands of new providers
  3. An era of increased regulation
